United Arab Emirates (UAE): My Unpredictable Journey

Description

I spent two weeks in the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) and went for field trips in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. This is my third time stepping on to the earth of the Middle East. Al Ain, where UAEU locates, is more conservative than New Cairo, Istanbul, and Dubai. From here, I learned a different angle of the Arabic World.

Surprisingly, the coronavirus broke out in my home country exactly during this program. I have received humanitarian support from the UAEU that they invited all the Chinese students to stay longer as guests. From then on, I have begun my life as a visiting student at the campus. I am auditing courses and engaging in the students' activities.

Some of you may know that I volunteered in the Common Future Fund for a year in my freshman and sophomore year. At that time, as a community development officer, I contributed my time and efforts to help Syrian refugees. This was my first connection with the Middle East. Now I feel like that my kindness is paid back. Moreover, I intend to continue to be caring and considerate to all the humans around the globe. I sincerely believe that helping those in crisis regardless of race and ethnicity is the key to build a community with a shared future for mankind.
